Popular Women in the World of PokerPoker was previously a man's world. The skill required to win a game and the balls needed to stand the competition are just too far of a concept in a woman's mind. But not anymore. Today, we can count many women names that have created a significant wave in the Poker world. They are obviously reminding men to be on guard of their games because the members of the 'weaker sex' are here to give them a run for their money. Linda Johnson was renowned for handling a popular Poker magazine. For seven years, Johnson owned Card Player magazine, a renowned printed journal of Poker professionals around the world. If you think being involved in the print media is all that Johnson took a part on, you were wrong. Johnson also participated in planning Poker conferences for years. Aside from that, she has also made several killings at the Poker table. She garnered a coveted golden bracelet at the World Series of Poker in 1997. Barbara Enright is another popular name in the Poker world. She was the first woman ever who was able to sit in at the final table of WSOP during the 1995 Main Event. It is quite an achievement that remains unsurpassed. Enright also holds a gold bracelet for winning at the 1996 Pot Limit Hold 'em tourney. Her love for the card game dates back to 1976nwhen she was circling the card rooms in her locality. When she gained enough strength, skill, and experience to face the key players in the Poker industry, she began joining tournament plays. Today, Enright is busy putting together a magazine dedicated to women Poker players. Rose Richie, Cyndi Violette, Jennifer Harman, Evelyn Ng, and Maureen Feduniak lead the pack of the rest of women players who are making a mark in Poker. At one point or another, they have proven that Poker is no longer a man's world. They practiced as hard as men did to gain experience and performed well at the table, when all eyes are already focused on them. Women Poker players showed what grace under pressure is all about in more ways than one. When they are out to play, they are out to impress. They constantly work hard to achieve Poker success that men used to enjoy for themselves. We are still waiting for a woman WSOP champ. With the kind of perseverance that women Poker player are showing off lately, it will not be long before that thing actually happens. |
